My First Integration Thursdays Experience

Date: 17th November, 2016

Time: 7 to 9pm

Location:University of the West IndieStudent’s Union

Integration Thursdays at the University of the West Mona last night was not what I expected. I honestly thought it would have been better than that but it was BORING. It was a far cry from the Integration that I have heard so much about.

The most incredible journalist I know accompanied me. The securities didn’t even want us to enter. I mean what is up with that? They wanted us to write to Guild of students requesting permission for a party that wasn’t even all that. It started at seven and ended at nine pm. The music was atrocious. People literally just stood there not even dancing. The music was provided by deejays from Sun City Fm and they didn’t do a very good job. The deejay was obviously inexperienced and the hype man spoke way too much. I can count on one hand how many persons I saw dancing at the party. For the entire night.

Don’t even get me started on the crowd. A five year old’s party would be more packed. It was empty until minutes after 8. I know the rain was falling earlier in the day and most classes end at nine which is probably why the turn out was so poor but come on people. That was beyond lame. I recall a particular female saying “I felt like I was at church. ” Let us wait to see if the final integration is going to be any better. I give it a one out of five rating.

  1. Word on the street is the final integration Thursdays that was supposed to be held yesterday was postponed until next week due to the weather. I am anxious to see what it will be like. Will it be a category 1 hurricane like last week or will it actually be fun?? Guess we will just have to wait and see.
